Rory’s Reveal Event

July 29, 2023

On July 29, 2023, we held a Reveal Event for Rory and his family, at the James V Harmon Community Center, where we unveiled Rory’s Bat Mobile and Batman costume!

We were so lucky to have been gifted the presence of Hastings Police, Hastings Fire, Yonkers Police, Yonkers Fire, and FDNY at Rory's Reveal!

The Hastings Police Department made Rory an honorary Police Officer, presenting him with his own uniform and custom-made badge! Westchester County Legislator James Nolan also presented a proclamation declaring July 29th in honor of Rory in Westchester County!

Hastings Fire parked a fire truck out front that the children at the event could explore and touch, and Yonkers Police also brought several giveaways and goodies for the children at the event!

We also had the honor of hearing from Tim Sullivan with Yonkers Fire and Chris Horrigan with FDNY 84 Engine/Ladder 34, who both knew Rory's uncle and paid a moving tribute to him during the event. Chris also had the opportunity to introduce us to his non-profit organization, Lil' Bravest, which was started in honor of Rory O'Flaherty.

It's heroes like these that make our events so memorable and incredibly special. We are honored to support them and continue to welcome these incredible departments into the Capes family.

The Chocolate Box Cocoa Van fed our guests, along with Prospector Popcorn, a gourmet popcorn non-profit who provides equal employment opportunities for disabled adults!

A huge thank you goes out to all of the volunteers, vendors, partners, and sponsors for this event! We could not have done this without you!

Dedicated to helping students achieve and find joy in learning, Elizabeth Seton Children’s School is the preeminent special education program for children ages 18 months to 8 years with complex medical needs.

Each student used their creativity and artistic skills to make their own cape, mask, and crown to wear when they met their heroes! We had so much fun getting to spend time with these incredibly special little ones and we can’t wait to come back!
